1. About this policy
HomePurchaseReady ("we", "us", "our") provides an educational website and online assessment that helps U.S. home buyers understand whether mortgage pre-approval should be their next step. We are not a lender, bank, or financial advisor.
We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal information responsibly, in line with applicable U.S. federal and state privacy laws. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to you.
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you use our website, we may collect:
- Contact details, such as your name, email address, and phone number
- Responses you provide in our 60-second assessment (for example, general information about your savings, income type, timeline, and buying stage)
- Messages you send us through our contact form
- Technical information such as IP address, device and browser type, pages visited, and referral source
- Information generated by cookies and analytics tools described below
We do not ask for or collect sensitive financial account numbers, passwords, or government identifiers through the assessment, and we do not perform credit checks.
3. How we collect it
We collect personal information directly from you when you complete the assessment, submit the contact form, or otherwise interact with our website. We also collect information automatically through cookies, pixels, and analytics tools as you browse the site, including where you arrive from an advertisement.
4. Cookies
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to remember your preferences, understand how the site is used, and measure the effectiveness of our content and advertising. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings; however, some parts of the website may not function as intended if cookies are disabled.
5. Analytics
We use analytics tools to understand how visitors use our website — for example, which pages are viewed, how long visitors stay, and which device types are used. This information helps us improve the content and usability of the site. Analytics data is generally aggregated and does not identify you personally.
6. Meta Pixel
We use the Meta Pixel (from Meta Platforms, Inc.) on our website. This tool allows us to measure the effectiveness of our advertising on Facebook and Instagram, understand the actions people take on our site after viewing an ad, and build audiences for future advertising. The Meta Pixel may collect information such as your IP address, browser details, and the pages you visit. You can learn more about how Meta handles this information, and manage your ad preferences, through your Meta account settings.
7. Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to help us understand website traffic and usage patterns. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect standard internet log information and visitor behaviour information in an anonymous form. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, available from Google.
8. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide you with your assessment result
- Respond to enquiries submitted through our contact form
- Where you consent, connect you with a licensed mortgage broker
- Improve our website, content, and the accuracy of our assessment
- Measure and improve the performance of our advertising, including on Meta platforms
- Comply with our legal obligations
9. Sharing information with mortgage brokers
If your assessment result suggests that speaking with a mortgage broker could be a useful next step, and you choose to proceed, we may share your name, contact details, and a summary of your assessment responses with a licensed, independent mortgage broker so that they can contact you. We will only do this with your consent, and you're always free to decline. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
10. Email communication
If you provide your email address, we may send you your assessment result, respond to your enquiry, or, where you've agreed to receive them, occasional educational content about the home-buying process. Every email we send includes a way to unsubscribe or opt out of future communications.
11. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect the personal information we hold from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure. However, no method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Your rights
Depending on where you live, applicable U.S. privacy laws (such as the California Consumer Privacy Act and similar state laws) may give you the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you
- Request access to, or a copy of, that information
- Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or out of date
- Request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain exceptions
- Withdraw consent to marketing communications or being connected with a broker
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, where applicable (we do not sell your personal information)
- Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details below. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. If you have concerns about how we've handled your personal information, you may also contact your state Attorney General's office or the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
13. Service providers
Some of the technology providers we use (such as analytics, advertising, and cloud hosting services) may store or process information on servers located in different locations within the United States, or in some cases outside the United States. Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information continues to be handled in a manner consistent with this policy.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal obligations. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
